Message from Minerva 11/26/11 – The Alchemy of the Intellect and Wisdom

I am She who gives you those things which transform man into more than animal. I give you intellect to reason, to discern, and to learn about the world around you – and within you. Your intellect allows you to interact with each other and the circumstances in your life. Your intellect combined with wisdom allows you to create your life and to act upon the world rather than just react. I give you wisdom so you can use your intellect in ways that are in harmony and balance. Wisdom tempers the raw intellect so you know what is right for you and what is in balance for all your relations.

One of my gifts of the intellect is science, but it is science that is balanced with wisdom. Using only the intellect is one reason why your world is in trouble. For so many scientist (and others), they do not use their wisdom to discern the long-term effects or the wider implications of their science and inventions. They tend to only look at the short-range effect and what it does for humanity. They don’t look at what it does to the planet or the rest of Her children: the plants, the animals, the fish, and the minerals. The pollution problem of this world could have been avoided had science been tempered with wisdom.

Dear Ones, use your intellect and the bright minds you have been given. The intellect serves a vital function in your spiritual growth and evolution. Your intellect helps you to learn and understand new concepts and to perceive that which is beyond your immediate surroundings. Your intellect allows you to take a concrete thought and expand it into a creative idea. But, Dear Ones, do not let your intellect run wild and be the only thing you value. Tame your intellect with wisdom.

All of you, Dear Ones, have wisdom within you. Your soul is continually connected to Spirit and is guided by Source. This connection gives you the spiritual, long-range perspective that the intellect alone lacks. This wisdom of Spirit shows you how to use and apply in balance and harmony that which your intellect has learned and reasoned. Wisdom looks at the knowledge of the intellect and balances it with the creative arts of living to enhance all of life.

Wisdom is the discernment of whether and how knowledge should be applied. Just because we can create a nuclear bomb doesn’t mean we should or it’s the right thing to do. Intellect alone would make them just because it can and to see what happens when you do. Wisdom uses discernment and Spiritual connection to determine how it would affect the world and ALL of its inhabitants on a long-term basis. If the idea or new knowledge would cause harm and suffering, then wisdom would conclude the knowledge should not be used in that way. Wisdom would guide the intellect into looking further into the new knowledge or technique to find if it can be used for good, in ways that do not harm.

The scientist used only their intellect concerning nuclear science and theory. They stopped before they used their wisdom and only found the ways to use nuclear power that were good, but didn’t go to the next step – how to use it without harm. Dear Ones, there are ways to harness vast amounts of energy that is in balance and harmony with ALL and does not cause harm in any way. Applying wisdom to the intellect will provide the answer. Science must return to the old ways of alchemy – when the intellect was used in conjunction with Spiritual wisdom. Whole new areas of science and types of energy will open up when this happens. Dear Ones, this is my promise to you, the world WILL change when this is done, for the better. Call on me and I will guide you in the alchemy of intellect and wisdom. I will show you how to blend the intellect of reason with the wisdom of Spirit to create and discover new ideas, new concepts, and new ways to live and to be that are in balance and harmony and create synergy.

Dear Ones, in your search for knowledge, do not forget your inner wisdom. There comes a time when you must put the books down and stop gathering at the feet of teachers and look within to your own wisdom. You must use your discernment to determine when you have learned all you can from outside sources and now must apply the knowledge you have gained in your life. As you do, you will gain wisdom on that subject and open up the wells of wisdom within you.

Even more important, my Dear Ones, stop doubting and de-valuing your own inner wisdom and knowledge. What you have to offer the world doesn’t always – and for many of you does not – come from following the path of others. You who are Light Bearers are bringing forth new paths, new ways, and are trail blazers for others to follow. You are traveling paths where you are first. But, my Dear Ones, you HAVE the knowledge and wisdom within you to blaze these trails. You came with it. You do not need to learn it from someone else. Dear Ones, put aside the need you feel that you must have certificates from someone else to “prove” your capability and competence. It is your doing, your inner wisdom, that makes you competent, not the certificate. Learn what you need from others, and then look inside to your inner wisdom and knowledge to leap forward and blaze a new trail. There are many Light Bearers who are coming into awareness of who they are. They are the ones who are holding the torch for others to follow a new path, to cross a different bridge. They are NOT what you call Lightworkers, although they usually are. Most Light Bearers are Lightworkers, but not all Lightworkers are Light Bearers. A Lightworker works with the “light” – the energy of Spirit to assist others in healing or their growth. Light Bearers hold the energy of Spirit to guide others on their path and to show a new path, and most importantly to open a new path for others to follow. Light Bearers, call on me and I will help you open and access your inner wisdom to blaze the path you are here to open for your sisters and brothers. You are NOT alone.

Dear Ones, use your intellect tempered by your wisdom to benefit all around you and bring balance and harmony to your life.

My story is of life and death and rebirth. I stir my cauldron Awen, carefully tending the brew I’ve mixed. A year and a day my care and attention went into Grael, the brew of inspiration. Did I know my son, Afagdu, for whom it was intended, would never taste the three sweet drops? Perhaps. In my single-mindedness to make him something other than he was I ignored the warnings of my own vision, my own intuition.

Inspiration comes with the price of transformation. Would he appreciate the transformation the brew would bring to him? Did I ask him if he was unhappy with his state of ugliness? Did I ask him if he was prepared and wanted the transformation of wisdom my brew would bring? No, I as his mother and as a powerful Goddess thought I knew better. I thought I knew what was best for him.

My Dear Ones, this lesson is for you as well. In our eagerness to help those who appear to be hurting, who appear to be ugly in their affliction or illness, we can overstep the bounds of free-will and choice. We can decide we know better than they what is good for them. Our intentions may be good and from the heart, but that doesn’t mean they are right. I see now as I look up the happenings of that fateful day it was no coincidence that is was Gwion rather than my son Afagdu who tended the pot.

I was so involved in my own good intentions I didn’t realize the brew was almost done. I left Gwion tending the pot while I gathered more herbs. The Divine Will of All stepped in to right my wrong. The child wanted the inspiration, wanted the transformation, and yes, even the liberation that my brew would bring. He wanted to become a man of wisdom and to inspire others. My son did not. As Gwion stirred, three drops of inspiration splashed upon his hand and without thinking he licked them off.

The transformation began.

He knew I’d be angry – and he was right. I was. I was so full of righteous indignation that my plan to help my son had been foiled by this boy.

I chased him and he ran. The brew of inspiration taught him how to change shape. Shape after shape he changed and so did I, until at last I caught him in his disguise of a grain of wheat and gobbled him up as a hen.

Thinking that it was done, I went back to my cauldron to begin the brew again. But as I filled it with fresh water, I looked in and saw a vision. Gwion’s transformation had just begun. In death I gave him life. This is the nature of the Goddess, the cycle of life, death and rebirth. And so it is my nature as well. Nine months later, I gave birth to what Gwion had become, a new boy. He was blessed by my brew of inspiration and became the greatest Welsh bard of all time, Taliesin.

My gift of inspiration would have been lost and as nothing on my son, Afagdu. But in Taliesin, it found fertile ground and blossomed.

Now, I mix my brew of inspiration and only give it to those who ask. And those who are willing to pay the price of transformation that comes with it. As you act upon the inspiration, the ideas, and the wisdom that I give you, you change. You will never be the same as you were before you sipped the brew of inspiration. Like Gwion, you will go through many forms until at last you find the one which fits you best to fulfill the promise within you. Gwion transformed from a servant boy to one of the most gifted bards, Talesin. He had the capacity within him, and my brew only awoke it.

Dear Ones, what is within you that my brew of inspiration will awake and allow you to transform into? What is the truth of you? Are you willing? Are you ready for that journey into yourself? If you are, Dear Ones, come to me and drink my brew of inspiration and find the liberation of transformation.

Minerva - Goddess of Arts, Wisdom, and the Intellect

The Roman Goddess Minerva is the Goddess of Arts and Wisdom. She has many qualities which all relate to the Arts, Wisdom, and the Intellect. These are the three qualities we will focus on. She was originally Etruscan, which is the region of Southern Italy and modern day Tuscany. Her Etruscan name was Menrva, and many believe it is the root for the Latin mens meaning mind, reason, and intellect as she rules all things that relate to the intellect and the mind. She was the patron Goddess to artist and students as well as doctors and scientist. If it was of the mind and the proper use of the intellect, it fell under Minerva’s domain.

Minerva was an important Etruscan Goddess. She was part of the trinity of Uni, the Earth Mother, and Tinia, the Sky Father. When she was assimilated by Rome, she again formed the Holy Trinity with Jupiter and Juno.

Minerva was considered one of the three Virgin Goddess and formed a second Holy Trinity with Diana (Artemis) and Vesta (Hestia). A Virgin Goddess does not mean she was asexual and never had sex. The original meaning of a virgin was an independent woman, who held authority and respect on her own.

It was only when Minerva became Roman did the Goddess of the arts, wisdom, and peace become a Goddess of war. From the information I have received from both Athena and Minerva, it wasn’t until they reached Rome and its imperialistic nature did they rule war. Minerva’s battle armor is to defend the intellect and learning that turns a group of people into a civilization. She is willing to fight to defend that which is important – commerce, the arts, science, learning, healing, and the arts. She does not fight for acquiring new territory or imposing one people’s ways upon another.

Minerva as the Goddess of Intellect rules learning and knowledge. These are related and are a natural progression that we go through from our initial learning an idea or concept and fully integrating that in our lives and obtaining wisdom. Wisdom comes from fully integrating the knowledge we have learned and making it ours. We all have different experiences and perceive the world differently, even from our siblings and parents. When we look through our unique lens of perception, we make what we’ve learned ours. We know we’ve made it ours when we can share it from our unique perspective with others. This is when knowledge changes into wisdom.

Lakshmi - Goddess of Abundance, Prosperity, Wealth, and Thrival

Many of us have at one time or another wished for more abundance, more prosperity, and even more wealth in our lives. It is a natural desire being in this physical existence and world to want to experience the abundance available to us. We, and this world, are capable of infinite abundance and possibilities.

The way of The Goddess is one of Thrival. Thrival is the state of being or act of thriving. The new paradigm of the coming Age is one where we are focused on Thrival and thriving rather than the current paradigm of survival and surviving. In the new paradigm, and Age, we will have a deep knowing – even beyond faith – that the world is abundant and so are we. Our highest goal is to be in a state of Thrival rather than just surviving like we currently are taught.

Abundance, prosperity, and Thrival are much more than financial wealth and having money and possessions. This aspect is included. Thrival and abundance can be ours in every area of our life and defines the quality of our life. It includes our work, whether it is our right livelihood or passionate purpose. Our friendships, community, and relationships can be abundant and give us a sense of Thrival. We can abundantly express our creativity, have plentiful food, and be thriving in our health. We can have abundant, beautiful spiritual experiences.

The Goddess which is the epitome, even the quintessence of Abundance, Prosperity, and Thrival is the Indian/Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. Although She is usually only associated, here in the West, with just money and wealth, She is in fact, the Goddess of all aspects of abundance, prosperity and wealth, in all its wondrous, beautiful forms. She rules prosperity and abundance in both the material and the spiritual planes.

In general, Lakshmi’s qualities include beauty, leadership, spiritual authority, royal authority, luck, fertility, purity, generosity, wisdom, fortune, and the wealth of food. As Shri, she confers luster, glory, beauty, power, capability, skillful means, and high rank. It is from her ruling power, dominion, and the majesty of royalty is received.

Lakshmi is said to live in the Anahata or heart chakra. According to Thomas Ashley-Farrand in his book, ‘Shakti Mantras’, She has the ability to “activate every positive attribute held in potential in all of our chakras.” (pg 94).

When you consider all of the areas of wealth and the qualities that Lakshmi rules over, you begin to get a sense that she is much more than what she appears. It makes sense that she is the Essence of abundance when you consider Lakshmi as a primordial Great Mother or Earth Goddess. I have come to believe that Lakshmi predates the Vedas and Hinduism and was originally The Great Mother, the Earth Goddess, of the pre Indo-European peoples. This is reflected and supported in that many of her names and titles refer to her as The Great Mother (Shri Maha Lakshmi), and Earth Goddess (Bhumi Devi).

Cerridwen - Goddess of Inspiration, Transformation, & Liberation

The Goddess Cerridwen (KARE-id-win) is from Wales. She is a full Goddess, meaning she incorporates the three traditional aspects of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Most often though, she is called upon in her Mother aspect as a type of Muse or as a Crone in her aspect of holding the Cauldron of Transformation and its links to the Underworld and death and rebirth.

Cerridwen has many aspects. She is considered a Goddess of death, fertility, regeneration, inspiration, magic, astrology, herbs, science, poetry, spells, and knowledge. She is linked to the Moon with the symbolism of her cauldron and dealing with the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. Her powers include the gift of prophecy.
The three main aspects we will focus on are her gifts of Inspiration, Transformation, and Liberation. These are intertwined gifts and work together.

The gift of inspiration can lead us to what we need to change, it can give us the motivation for making the change, and it can bring us the ideas and insights on how to make the changes that are right for us. The flame of transformation can ignite our will to make the change and burns away what we no longer need. From this, we are given the gift of liberation, being freed from “gunk” that has been holding us back. When we stop resisting the change we can gain a sense of freedom and it opens up the clogged energy our resistance and worry about making the change has caused.

Cerridwen can be a caring mother, looking out for the best interests of her children, giving them inspiration, and sharing her wisdom. Cerridwen gives us the gift of inspiring us to be more than we are now, to reach for greater wisdom within us, and to express our Selves. As the Goddess of Inspiration, she is a Muse. Cerridwen's role of a Muse is more about pushing us to reach beyond where we've been before than it is to encourage us to ban an artist. There is that aspect as well, but her gift of inspiration is tempered by the gift of transformation.

As a Crone, Cerridwen understands the cycle of life, death, and rebirth and connecting with her we can begin to understand this as well. This understanding can help us not only with the greater cycle of a lifetime, but the lesser cycles of periods in our life.

Cerridwen has two children, a girl, Creidwy, who was beautiful and fair, and Afgadu, who was ugly and dark. These are representations of duality. Not only does Cerridwen birth the dual natures, but as Mother, she stands in the balance between them. She embraces both the light, in the form of her daughter, and the dark, in the form of her son. Even though her son is described as the “ugliest boy in the world”, she loves him and wants the best for him. As her children, they are aspects and parts of herself. This reminds us that we are also both light and dark, feminine and masculine, beautiful and ugly. We have the capacity within us to be fair or judgmental, to be kind or cruel, or to be benevolent or malevolent. We have the choice how we balance on the scale of duality and opposites.

Message from Brigid - Goddess of Healing (Celtic) Enhancing Your Healing with the Spoken Word

Greetings Dear Ones! Come and listen to the message I have for you this day:

I am Brigid, the Bright One and many are my gifts to you. To bring balance and beauty to the lives of Men, I brought to you the gifts of poetry, music, and craftsmanship. To give you a longer time to enjoy life and to love, I brought the gift of healing.

My healing not only comes from my Sacred Wells and from the power of plant, it comes also from my gift of Sound, of Words spoken in rhyming tongue. Poetry and its sister, lyrical music, brings forth healing to the soul and mind while herbs and water heal the body. Together, one becomes whole and hale.

My gift to you, Dear Ones, was the spell of the spoken word combined with the healing brew of plants. This gift has been lost. It has been sundered. Now, I see some few who remember the healing gift of plants infused into water. Now a pill, synthesized chemicals, is where most find healing, and then need to take another one to counter-act the first.

Once upon a time a prayer, a chant, was spoken by the Wise One as they brewed the healing tea. There is power in the spoken word, in the sound of the human voice. The Old Ones, the Shamans of the past ages knew this and so prayer was chanted during the healing work. It was known healing was as much spiritual and emotional as it was physical. How sad I am to see, Dear Ones, that now healing and medicine only focuses on the physical. The doctors of your age are no longer Priests and Priestess who work with The Divine to bring full health and well-being to their patients.

The words of the chant, or of the prayer, focus the mind and Spirit to what is desired – health of Being, and combined with the healing powers and properties of the plants the body would become whole and healthy once more.

Dear Ones, if you want to add power to the pills you take and make them even more effective, say a prayer or chant a poem as you swallow the pill.

Let this medicine do its work,

To bring me to full health,

in body, mind, and Spirit.

Then focus on being healthy and well, rather than your illness or pain.

What has been forgotten, Dear Ones, in this age of science and reason is that YOU are part of the cure. It isn’t just the medicine that makes you well, as what so many now assume. YOU, your will, your desire to be well plays as an important a role as the chemicals coursing through your body. Why do you think some get well and others do not with the same course of treatment? It is the will and desire of the individual that make the difference.

In the age of science the body has been separated and segregated from the mind and soul. Only the symptoms of the body tend to be treated, when the illness – the imbalance – began in the mind or emotions or spirit of the person. The last place for disharmony to manifest is the body and yet for so many it is the first and only place to be treated. The mind-body-spirit of a person are integral and inseparable. What occurs in one, affects the others. For true healing then, Dear Ones, all three must be attended to for balance and harmony to return to the person.

There is a time and place – and need – for allopathic medicine; for the medicine and surgery of science. But there is also need for a return to the healing of the mind, spirit, and body in wholeness. There are many being called today to serve in this type of healing. There are many processes and modalities for you to choose. Not all are a fit for what you need. As with all things, including scientific medicine, use your discretion and inner wisdom. They will guide you to that which is right for you.

And Dear Ones, I remind you healing comes in many forms and many ways. My gift of poetry and music is healing to the mind and spirit. My gift of craftsmanship, of creating beautiful things, is healing both for those who create and those who enjoy the creation. Beauty, no matter where it comes from, is a balm for the soul. Whether beauty come from an expression of The Divine in Nature, or from the hands and hearts of humans, it is still beauty. It is still an expression of The Divine and touches the heart and soul.

There is healing in the waters of your tears. Allow yourself the healing that comes from a good cry. Let go of the pent-up emotions and cry. This is as important for men as women. The healing found in tears is the same whether they are shed by a woman or a man.

There is healing in the wind and sea,

A dewdrops kiss on grassy feet.

Sun smiling down becomes a warm caress

A comforting hug and kiss from a loved ones lips.

Healing I find in the beauty that is all around.

Bless me, Dear Brigid, The Bright One, with health and well-being.

May I be whole in mind, body, and Spirit.

Greetings Dear Ones! Come and listen to the message I have for you this day:

Today I come to you in my form as Red Tara. In my aspect of Red Tara, I am of the Earth, of passion and desire manifested through the will of magic. I am the aspect of Tara, the Great Shining One, which transforms you through alchemy from the baseness of limited thoughts which hold you down like lead to the full potential of your Divine Nature which is pure and golden. This is the gold to be sought; the Golden Light of your True Self, your True Essence, Your Divine Self.

In seeking with passion the desire of your Heart, you shed the layers of sediment which has accumulated around you. This is all the thoughts and desires that are not you, are not yours, and hides the pure light that is you. These are the desires of parents, even well-meaning one, who want you to be who they think you should be, do what they think is “acceptable”. This dross and grime is the desires of friends and family for you to be, act, think, or do in a manner they think is appropriate and in a way they think is you. And even more grime is added by the society and culture you live in. Until there is so much dross around you, YOU don’t know who YOU are. You act and believe in ways to conform with what you’ve been told and led to believe.

But underneath the layers of sediment and grime lies a precious, beautiful stone. One of pure Light and Love. It is your True Divine Self. It shines like polished gold in the sun. It flashes with the brilliance of diamonds.

Who are you? What do you desire? The desires that come from your deep heart, your soul, are clues to who you are. Ask yourself, from your heart space, what do I desire? What am I passionate about? What sparks my passion? What brings me joy? Call on me, as Red Tara, to magnetize to you what you passionately, deeply, desire and through magic and alchemy I will show you the way.

Like magic, doors of opportunity will open up. Windows of understanding will open. Pathways will appear before you. Each step you take toward your passionate desire drops a layer of dross. Continue to pursue your desire, refining it, gaining more and more clarity, and soon you will find the beauty that is you. All the layers of others beliefs about you will have dropped off, burned off, or rubbed off by the alchemy of your journey. Leaving behind the gem, the pure Golden Light of your True Self.

This, Dear Ones, is the true gift of creating your own reality through your desires: the revelation of your True Self. As each desire manifests, as life gets better and better, you become even more and more your Authentic Divine Self. You shine with your brilliance as you do your right livelihood, live with love with your chosen partner and family, express your creativity, and serve and assist others. Living a full life, experiencing the joys – and the sorrows – of life is your purpose in this physical world. As you live your life, you grow and expand. You become even more You.

All that is good, all that allows you to Live in Thrival, is here for you! You are meant to succeed, to shine with brilliance! You are meant to have love and joy. You are meant to thrive. You have the potential to be, do, and have all that you desire. You have the potential to dream and be even more than you can now conceive.

What dream, what calling, what desire do you run and hide from? Which one do you think is so far out of your reach you try to dismiss it? This, my Dear Ones, is the one which reveals the truth of you. This is the nugget of gold buried within the lead.

I implore you, Dear Ones, to stop running, stop hiding from your greatness, your brilliance! The world needs you to be great and to shine with your brilliance. You are the change you seek. You are the answers to the problems and challenges of the world. Your desire to make a difference, will make the difference. If you make a difference in even one person’s life, you have made a difference to the whole.

Dear Ones, explore and dive into your passionate desires and discover the brilliance of your True Self.

Life is Joy! Why do you persist in seeing it as anything but joy? There is time for laughter and love and even sex in this game called life. Life isn’t meant to be serious all of the time, but yet, my Dear Ones, I see so many of you who walk through life filled with worry and concern, forgetting to laugh or that joy exists.

My grin and open vulva is to remind you of the sweetness, the pleasure – and downright fun – of sex and being alive! And it doesn’t end as we age. It only gets better! The fun and pleasure of life isn’t reserved just for the young. Goodness! What has happened? Many are living longer, healthier lives, but aren’t fully living their lives. Are YOU living a happy, joyful life? Are you making the most of the physical life you are living NOW? Or are you focused on the “rewards” of the afterlife and forgetting to live this life?

Oh, Dear Ones, I am the Hag that sits on the threshold of Death and yet I am ALIVE! I do not escort you through Death’s gateway before you have lived. I admonish you, Dear Ones, do not hasten your departure from this world through your continual focus on “heaven”. Heaven is HERE. It does not exist elsewhere. My open vulva is the Gateway back into the Womb of the Great Mother. And, see my face – the joy of that return? There is nothing to fear in death, for only the body dies. That which is You is eternal, immortal, and has always been and will always be. Passing through my Gateway in Death is a returning ‘home’ to who you truly are and always will be.

In this time of darkness, when so many souls are returning to the Womb, to The Void, do not grieve for them. They have chosen this as their time to depart and they go with Joy into the Oneness with The All. And in their passing, be assured of the Cycle of Life – of rebirth – that life goes on. And will continue to go on.

And in this cycle, my open vulva is the Gateway to Life. From the Womb of The Mother and the Seed of The Father comes new life to fill the world anew. Passion and laughter of living life to its fullest is my gift to you. Passion and laughter of returning to The Void when life is done, is also my gift. In this world of duality, there must be life balanced with death. Joy balanced with sorrow. Youth balanced with age. And know this, my Dear Ones, it is a spiral, a cycle of balance, not a straight line of either/or. It is a spiral of ‘and’. There is BOTH love and fear, pain and pleasure, compassion and hatred, and they exist at the same time – even within you.

I am the Hag, who laughingly and lewdly shows you life is pleasure and pain, fun and work, life and death. I am the Hag, the Old One, who reminds you life doesn’t end when your hair turns gray and your face wrinkles. I am the Hag who taunts you into remembering to live life to its fullest in Joy until the moment you pass through the Gateway of Death – and even then to laugh.

So, my Dear Ones, Laugh, Love, be in Joy – and feel your sorrow, pain, and fear. For all of it is the fullness of Life. Experience ALL Life brings to you. And remember to have Joy in all you do.

Winter Solstice - The Cycle of Darkness and Light

Winter Solstice is the end of the Solar Year. In the Northern Hemisphere it is marked by being the longest, darkest night of the year. The days have been steadily growing shorter until they culminate in this time of darkness.

So it may appear in our lives that we are in the darkest time.

We look outside of ourselves and see the chaos of a global economy readjusting and being shaken out of its stagnation. And we are told this is a dark time.

We look inside of ourselves and see the frustration of our desires not manifesting as quickly as we’d like or in the way we thought they should. And we feel this is a dark time.

In the dark is when the seeds of light are germinated. It is in the dark of the earth that a seed, which is only the potential of life, transforms into something new and begins to grow. It sends roots deep into the darkness even as it reaches shoots up to the light. This act of nature of growing from the seed of potential to the fullness of maturity, is reflected in us and in our lives. The dark, contrary to popular belief, is not necessarily evil or a place to be avoided. The dark is a place where we can rest and regenerate. It is where we plant our seeds of potential and it is where we are grounded to the physical world. It is the balance and harmony of light. Both the light of day and the dark of night is needed for us to be healthy. We need the balance between activity and rest; of doing and Being; of acting and reflecting. The dark gives us this balance of rest, of reflection, of Being, of creating.

Even in this time of the longest night and the shortest day there is balance. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is Summer Solstice, the longest day and the shortest night. And a new cycle begins. In the Northern Hemisphere, the days will begin to grow longer, while in the Southern hemisphere, the days will begin to grow shorter.

The physical world is one of cycles and so too is our life. We can be in a cycle and spiral of expansion and growth, or one of contraction and stagnation. Even in the contraction, of going within, we can find growth, for all of our life experiences we create are for our spiritual growth and evolvement.

We create all of our life experiences, consciously and unconsciously. Our conscious minds may be part of creating our reality. Our subconscious minds, and more importantly, our Inner Beings or Souls, are always part of creating our life experiences and reality. And our Souls always have that which is in our highest good as the prime directive, the prime motivation, for all that is created. This includes those we deem or see as dark, not just the joyful ones.

But we have the promise and assurance reflected in the world around us that life is a series of cycles, a spiral of growth. We will not stay in the darkness we have created any longer than we need to learn the lessons or gain the life experience we desired when we created the dark situation. Many times we do not realize this or recognize the lessons or gifts of our life experiences until later. But there is always growth, learning, and gifts in every situation and life experience. There are times when it is us giving a gift of learning to someone else.

Our lives follow a cycle from light to dark; happy to sad; good times to bad, just as the natural world around us does. This is reflected in the solar year of the light and days growing longer and shorter; grower warmer then colder, then warmer again. It is seen each month as the moon goes dark, grows to fullness, then wanes again into dark. And in a broader sense, it is seen in the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth in the season and in ourselves. The gift we have from seeing these cycles of nature is knowing that whatever cycle we are in, it is just that – a cycle. If we are down and in the dark, there is hope for light to return, for joy to fill our lives once again. The darkness will pass. The glowing dawn of a new day will appear on the horizon.

Use this time of the ending of the Solar Year and the darkness to reflect on what you have accomplished, where you started and where you are now, and what you have learned and the gifts you have received from the life experience of the year. Then in this darkness, plant the seeds of what you desire to be, do, and have in the coming Solar Year. And with the dawn, the light returns, the earth is warmed and the seeds you have planted begin to germinate and sprout. And new life experiences of growth are born.

May your new Year be filled with joyous life experiences and may you create in love, ease, joy and glory all that you desire!

I am the Dark Moon, the Dark Goddess. I show you the path that leads to the Dark Core of yourself. I take you on the journeys to find the truth of you. In my Dark Cavern I reveal the light of your Full Potential.

There must be dark with the light. There must be night to follow day. This is the way of this world. The dichotomies of light and dark, birth and death, good and evil, joy and sorrow, are part of this life experience. This is a world of duality and polarity and a place for you to learn to be in balance and wholeness within the duality. You can not do that by only looking to the Light and shunning the Dark.

Dear Ones, it is a fallacy that all things Light and white are good; and therefore, all things Dark and black are evil. There are those who walk in the Light and are full of evil. My reign is of the Dark – the night, the Underworld and these are not evil. I rule the deep unconscious part of you, the place where strengths, gifts, and wisdom are waiting for you to have the courage to seek them.

Come, my Dear Ones, to me under the Dark Moon to my sacred place of three crossroads. Where a choice of decisions are made, the place of light, dark and shadow and the fullness of all things. Come, my Dear Ones, if you want to know what lies deep in your core. Do you have the courage to face the truth of you? Do you have the courage to see the strength that is you? But be warned, this journey may also show you the things you do not wish to acknowledge; the pettiness or bitterness or anger. Things you have buried deep hoping no one, especially you, will know they are there. By hiding it away, Dear Ones, gives them the opportunity to fester and grow like cancer and manifest as a dis-ease. My gift to you is to take you to the dark corners of your mind and to heal them by illuminating them.

Yes, I illuminate!

My Dark Moon shines brightly in the cavern of your Soul showing you what you need to become whole and complete.

Just as the moon above you is the same whether its face is new, waxing, full, waning, or dark; so too am I one. I am the Light. I am the Dark. I am the Shadow between.

Come to my Cauldron of Knowledge. In it you will find that which you must know to follow your lifepath. I give you what you need and hold no judgment of good or bad. It is up to you to make of it what you will. It is your choice whether it will be difficult or easy.

Too many shun the dark thinking it an evil thing. In my Dark, the dark of the night, you find rest and peace. Greetings Dear Ones! Come and listen to the message I have for you this day:

The world has come to know me as a Warrior Goddess; one who battles and fights war, a Goddess who protects her men of war. But this is not all of me. It is a new mask I put on when patriarchy began to rule the world. My strength as a fierce protector of my Children, of my followers, and especially my women, was translated into a protector in battle.

Come with me back in time. Back before the Achaean Gods were conceived. Back to the ancient world and time of The Mother, when all followed the Divine Feminine and knew Her as Deity; Goddess. This is the time I was born. I did not hale from Zeus! I am more ancient, more primeval, than he. My name is so ancient there is no translation. I am simply Athena, She Who Is.

In this ancient time, I held sway over the hearth and home, all things of woman’s industry; of spinning, of weaving, of pottery, of sewing, of cooking. I blessed and gifted humans with all those things which make a house a home. All those things which rose humans from nomads and into civilization. My women were leaders in the home and community. My women were free citizens and a valued and valuable part of the community. And all things passed through the Mother Line – property, citizenship, and name.

My gifts were to make life more pleasant. My gift of pottery making provided containers, both useful and beautiful, to store your goods and to cook your food. This allowed cooking to become an art and added variety to the way food was prepared. My dual gifts of spinning fibers from plants and animals into thread and yarn and weaving them into cloth gave you fine clothing to fit the changing seasons. The gift of cloth gave you decorations, pillows and cushions, blankets, towels, and linens – all the things that make living more pleasant and are now taken for granted.

My gift, Dear Ones, is making a house into a home, a pleasant and comfortable place to live. My gift is to make community living possible, where you can be a group yet remain individual. Dear Ones, is your house a home? Is it where you can find peace, security, safety, and love? Is it a place of comfort and pleasantness? If not, what is it you need to do to make it so? Call on me, Dear Ones, when you need the love of The Mother to make your abode your home.

When you cook, let the love you feel for your family and those for whom you cook flow into the food. This applies even to those whom food preparation is a living. Your calling is to serve others through your gift of cooking. The food you cook is the bounty – and body – of the Great Mother. Honor it and Her as you cook. And even in this day of overly processed and refined food, the nutrients you need for health and vitality will flow from the food into your bodies. This is my gift and my promise to you.

I am a fierce protector of family, home, and community. I will fight to protect them. This too is my gift to you. When you need the strength of battle to protect those you love from harm, I will be there. And if your home is not a safe place for you, my Dear Ones, call on me to find the strength to do what you need for it and you to become safe. Do you need to speak up and assert your needs and desires? Do you need to leave? Do you need to stop and change your behavior and beliefs? Whatever you need, Dear Ones, I will provide.

My Dear Ones, there are many gifts and ways to make your life pleasant and your home comfortable. These are my gifts to you.

Autumn Harvest - What have you accomplished?

The seasons are changing. Here in Southern California, its very confused of what season it is. Within the space of 10 days we’ve had over 100^o then back down to 65^o and rain. Now it seems to be settling down to the cool days of autumn.

Autumn is the time of harvest. It is a time to evaluate what has been accomplished over the busy summer months and take stock to ensure we have enough to last the winter. In our modern culture, the deprivations of winter aren’t felt as much as food is moved from around the world to provide us with such things as fresh fruits and vegetables in December. We can use this old, natural cycle of harvesting in the metaphysical sense of our lives, not just the physical harvest of crops.

I recently had the experience of looking back at what I’ve accomplished since May of this year and was quite astonished at how much I’ve done. I have a tendency to see what hasn’t been done and what I still need to do and ignore what I’ve accomplished. (I don’t think I’m alone in this!) During April and May of this year, I did a 40-day abundance mantra/mudra practice where I chanted at least 108 times the mantra for Lakshmi, then continued the chant while I held the mudra for abundance for another 5 or so minutes. It took me about 25 minutes. And I did it everyday for 40 days, without fail. I made a collage of things I wanted to have an abundance of in my life. Some of the things I had images of were a circle of friends, a good relationship with my daughter, my business being successful, music, books, and money. As I chanted the mantra, I gazed upon each image and thought of how they would bring be joy. I completed the 40-day practice and went on with my life. It wasn’t until a week or so ago when someone mentioned starting a 40-day abundance practice and I told them what I had done since completing it that I realized how much I accomplished. It was in May that I created my first “Attunement Product” the Lakshmi Attunement Oil, for prosperity and abundance. Since then I’ve added the incense, oil, candles, and spray for not only Lakshmi but three other product lines as well. I now attend several fairs and expos per month selling my products to people and loving it. But until that moment, all I could see was what I hadn’t done.

In this time of harvesting and taking stock of our busy summer, I invite you to take a few moments and look back at all that you have accomplished. You might be surprised, as I was, at how much you’ve done. We are always doing and moving forward, and many of us don’t stop to give ourselves the recognition and credit for our accomplishments. We do much more than we think we do. We make goals, meet them, and then move on to the next. We forget to stop and celebrate and congratulate ourselves for meeting our goals and a job well done. The harvest season with the festivals of Hallows and Thanksgiving give us an opportunity to look back on our lives and acknowledge what we’ve accomplished. It also allows us to show our gratitude to The Divine and the people in our lives for the blessings and joy we sometimes take for granted.

May your harvest be abundant in the many blessings and accomplishments that fill your life!

I am the Creator of Life. It is my nature to nurture and hold dear all life I create. As I breathe life into each being, so I suck it out when it is time for them to pass. I am The Great Mother, who gives life and takes it away, and who holds you close in life and in death.

I have given the gift of creating and nurturing life to my Daughters. For it is in their nature to be deeply loving and compassionate; to nurture and care for life. Because they birth the new generations, holding them under their hearts in their wombs they understand the sacredness of life. And not just human life, but all of my creations.

And to my Sons, I have given them the gift of physical strength so they may protect and guard my Daughters and all life. It is their natures to stand guard against the beasts in the night, against those who have forgotten the sanctity of life.

Too many of my Sons – and even some of my Daughters – have forgotten the sanctity of life. They prey upon others in the pursuit of greed and control. They commit acts of aggression and violence, causing pain and suffering. They have pushed aside the gift of protecting and cherishing life I gave to them.

When I breathe life into you I give you “Sekpoli”, a small piece of myself. Dear Ones, you are all part of me and when you harm another, you harm yourself. The Sekpoli within you is the same as within another – you are one. It breaks my heart to see so much violence, war, anger, and aggression. It pains me, through your Sekpoli, when you harm one of my children. Dear Ones, if you but stop and feel, you will also feel the pain within you when you inflict suffering upon another.

My Sons, I call on you to stop listening to the bragging and boasting of Awe who says he is as great as I am. Stop listening and pretending because you are larger and have greater physical strength you are better than my Daughters. Listen well, my Sons, you are NOT! You BOTH have value and a place in the world and are equal.

It is time for balance between my Daughters and Sons. It is time for mutual love, respect, and honor to return to the world of humanity. My Dear Sons, remember and come back to the gift I gave you of protecting and cherishing life! My Dear Daughters, come back to the gift I gave you of nurturing and cherishing all life. My Dear Ones, remember my gift of life, my gift of Sekpoli and that you are one. Treat each other with love, honor, and respect. Cherish all of my children who share this world with you.

Dear Ones, my gift of Sekpoli is a gift of myself. It is my gift of connecting you to the Divine, to each other, and to all around you. I breathe life into you. Your life is Sacred. YOU are Sacred. And you are dearly loved.

It was I, so long ago, that brought to humans the 100 gifts of civilization. I brought order and law to communities; agriculture and art. But my greatest gift, Dear Ones, was of writing.

My Temple Priestesses were so busy and conscientious in their care of the people, they needed a way to do this with ease. I gave to them the gift of writing so they could keep track of the goods coming into the Temple and those going out and to whom. My gift was both writing it down and accounting. The gift to account and be responsible for the resources entrusted to them by the people of Enoch and Sumner.

It didn’t take my Priestesses and Priests long to take the gift of writing to its higher form of poems and praise of me. Writing has function; to keep track of and record that which has occurred, to document agreements, and to transfer knowledge. But in its highest form, writing is art. It is an expression of the Soul’s delight and praise of the Divine which surrounds all.

Writing can be an act of prayer – a way to connect to the Divine within you and the Divine around you. Writing songs, poems, stories, spells, chants, and journaling are all acts of prayer. They are all acts of expression of the Divine within you. It is an act of prayer to write them, and it is an act of prayer to read them or share them. That is the gift of writing – thoughts and words can be shared with many. They have been preserved and no longer are ephemeral and fleeting.

The prayers, hymns, and stories spoken of me by my Beloved People still stand and can be enjoyed by you, thousands of years later, because they were written.

My gift of writing was my greatest gift of civilization to you. Dear Ones, it is available to all of you; both in its functional aspect and as art. All who wish to express themselves can do so with writing. It is a cultural judgment of whether it is “good” or not. Your expression of the world around you, the world within you, the glory and beauty you see, the pain or joy you experience is the important aspect of writing. When it is an act of prayer, or an act of self-expression, or self-knowledge the words you write is what is essential. No one else need read it if you so choose, so allow yourself to write.

Dear Ones, pick up a pen and paper and call on me and allow your thoughts to flow onto the paper. It is my precious gift to you to see the thoughts you think; to learn about yourself from what ends up on the page. Appreciate the gift and express your Self. Appreciate the gift as you read the written words of others. The gift of writing is so prominent in your world it is taken for granted. But your world would not be as it is without this precious gift. Take a moment to be in gratitude for the gift of writing.

Notes: The oldest known written records date to around 3,200 BCE in Sumner. These were from the Temples of Inanna keeping track of the goods coming in and going out of the Temple and the land agreements negotiated by the Temple. The writing, known as cuneiforms, was pressed into wet clay which when dry made a lasting record, even into modern times. The earliest hymns, ritual texts, epic poetry, and law codes written fragments found date to around 2,000 BCE. Writing was a sacred act and wasn’t used for everyday communication as it is now.
